Rough-Skinned Newt

Taricha granulosa

Description:

Although this specimen does not look particularly "rough-skinned", we are pretty sure that it is a rough-skinned newt.

Habitat:

While camping near Mt. Hood, Oregon, we spotted this newt crossing a walking path after dark. It was heading toward a creek.

Notes:

Our identification is based on info from these websites: http://darkwing.uoregon.edu/~titus/herp/..., http://www.caudata.org/cc/species/Tarich..., http://www.californiaherps.com/salamande...,
