Notes:

Spotted this tree on top of Pao De Acucar in Rio. In hindsight, I should have took some photos of the leaves to help with ID. Maybe a species of Ceiba?

My spotting seems to have much more spines than Ceiba and B. quinata, unless they look like this when they are very young. I'm not sure.

Check for :Bombacopsis quinata,,,,,,,

That's good because the leaves don't look like Ceiba....maybe Ceiba it is.

I was thinking the same tree too but no, the leaves showing aren't the tree. There is forest around the peak of Pao De Acucar and it's very dense.

Could it be Ceiba speciosa> Are the leaves showing in the pics the leaves on the tree?
