This restless wasp was spotted on a warm evening hovering around my veranda light. It has a golden colour and a hair-thin waist. Body length: 30 mm; height:: 25 mm.
The small flies around this wasp didn't allow it for a moment to rest as they kept on pestering it. Photographing it thus, was a challenge. For easy viewing photos are turned downside up, as the wasp was holding onto the ceiling.
These things don't really have a common name except for ichneumon wasp. They are parasitic on other insects.
Thanks John La Salle for the ID. What could be the common name, I mean what wasp, etc.?
