Cuban Brown Anole

Anolis sagrei

Description:

This anole is a different variety because of the raised scales down it's back. They tend to drive out the smooth backed anoles. This one looks like he has had plenty to eat.

Habitat:

This one lives on the back-side of my garden. Most of the others live in my Pipevine close to the house.

You may be right Claire. I got a book today that suggests the more mature male grows a raised ridge on his back. Somewhere I had heard differently, but you know how myths get started.

I've been wondering if this is a different species or just a mature male.
