Achatina fulica
Very large land snail about 7-8 cm long. The shell was easily 6 cm.
A garden was nearby so it was headed for cover. Andapa region in the North East of Madagascar.
It was getting hard to make slime. It did rain every afternoon, so it soon had a better wetter time of things.

That's a super-power and I am very happy that you have that.
It's my one Ranger super-power, namitha :D
Thank you Ava, it's really nice that you could change the category.
I've moved this spotting from the Arthropods category to the Other category for you.
Hi JosephBullock, This is a wonderful spotting. It would be great if you could add this to the mission 'Giant African Snail Hunt' http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/1426....
And since this is a molluscan spotting, as LarsKorb has said 'Other' would be the right category.
you have put it into the wrong category...
Welcome Joseph..!!
Okay, I will check that out. I did find some really interesting tree snails while researching, though. Thanks for your diligence.
The picture clarity helped me to reach at Achatina fulica
Good picture at all.
Taking back my words, its found as Giant African land snail :)
I meant that "Okay" in a positive Thank You way. Tree snails are a new concept for me.
Okay! I just looked up and read about an expedition that searched for new species here. There are quite a few, so ID for this one may be a challenge.
