Double trunked Baobabs are rare, triple trunked are even more rare. This tripled trunked Baobab looks like a rhinocereus when viewed from the side, complete with the head shape and horn.

spiny desert

I spotted this in Ifaty, north of Toliara.

It's funny that you mention that it looks like a rhinoceros because that's what I thought when I first saw it (and before reading your comment!). Great spotting. A truly wonderful species!

Oh, interesting - the baobab seedling I have in a pot split itself right away - right after the first leaf pair. I was wondering what might happen to it, being split like it is, since I've mostly ever seen pictures of big fat single-trunked ones.
