Large black bee, looks to have a hard outer shell type of body. It has hairy legs, large mandibles, and rainbow metallic shiny wings. It makes a loud buzzing sound as it flies. It is known to live in wood piles and trees.
Found near some trees that have bark that sheds off easily, in my neighborhood near home in Vacaville, CA.
