Centaurea cyanus
It is an annual plant growing to 16-35 inches tall, with grey-green branched stems. The leaves are lanceolate, 1–4 cm long. The flowers are most commonly an intense blue color, produced in flowerheads (capitula) 1.5–3 cm diameter, with a ring of a few large, spreading ray florets surrounding a central cluster of disc florets.
Thanks Sarah for the ID - I accidentally deleted the first photo. I took the first picture with my IPhone then went back with my real camera

ooopsy...they ARE soo pretty :)
These pics is soooo pretty....wish we had these here in Ohio. You are welcome!
Nice! I've only seen a few of them, but I've reported a bunch of other wildflowers that I see down here in Salem (I usually go for a walk at lunch and find some very interesting wildflowers).
I see you are a neighbor - I found a field of these and other wildflowers in Draper near the highway.
I saw some of these the other day but couldn't get a good photo to upload, nor did I know the name. Thanks for getting it. They're quite lovely.
