ptychosperma macarthurii
I was sitting in the window seat of a bus. I took this shot of a palm tree when the bus pulled over.
Thanks Luis, I'll consider Ptychosperma macarthurii. The nuts/seeds looked just like the same sizes as this one
Not much, but I know something. Specially what is related to the great explorations. You know, Vasco da Gama, Maggelan, Cap. Cook, Tasman... I allways wanted to go to the southern seas myself...
I think it is absolutely wonderful the complexity of human relations in that part of the world. So many peoples and religions and ethnical traditions, it must be fabulous to live there.
Haha, so right before they supposedly discovered the Philippines (I guess they passed by Malacca Strait) in 1521 and conquered the land for 500 years. :-) Probably, that's why we seem to speak in very broken Spanish, and I can pick out and understand some Spanish words. Look at my very awesome Spanish vocabulary, bruha, engrata, diablo,p*ta,muchacha, etc. hehe..
Phillipines and Malaysia, two places I would give a arm to know. Well, maybe not to give, but lease...
Banana, mango, sugar cane, cynamon, black pepper, all came from orient, to name just a few...
Yes, I'd love to look at the ones that you have Julio! :-) By the way, basing on your name I thought you were from the Philippines. Your first name is Spanish which a lot of us have in the Philippines but mostly on people born until the 70's and your last name sounds like the last names that we got probably from our Malay-Indonesian connections. Interesting!
bu the fruits and nuts in that photo of mine were really tiny.. just a couple of times bigger in comparison to a grape seed
I think there is still to be writen a book about the transference of species that portuguese and spanish people undertook during the time they rulled the world...
That palm tree - or a very similar one - also grows in Brazil. Check this link:

No, the size in the picture is the maximum size of the nuts. I think this is the small variety of betel nut. Once they mature (and these red nuts are almost mature), they fall to the ground and could sprout and become seedlings.
so if these small ones will grow, they're going to grow as big as betel nuts? am I correct?
Yes, we have one exactly like this in our front yard. The nuts grow in a bunch, very attractive since they are bright read
Betel nut (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Areca_nut);... they come in different varieties bearing different nut sizes. This looks like the small nuts, which we call locally as botsina
