Hi Ian, Lovely shots. I may be able to help you identify this heliconia. Perhaps you can give a description of the size of the inflorescence, height of the plant, and length and width of the leaves. This looks like the Heliconia psittacorum. However, I was unable to find any of that species with green seeds. That fact may be due to climate conditions or geographic range of this species.
When i showed the photo to friends, without a pause they said Bird of Paradise! hahaha... I guess that's common name :D doing more search I found a more likely plant Heliconia psittacorum http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heliconia_p...

Oh... I see.. that's new to me. thanks for the info.. So the one that's very common in the Philippines is Heliconia
