Rubus phoenicolasius
Rubus phoenicolasius (Japanese Wineberry, Wineberry, or Wine Raspberry) is a species of raspberry (Rubus subgenus Idaeobatus) native to northern China, Japan, and Korea.[2] The species was introduced to Europe and North America as an ornamental plant and for its potential in breeding hybrid raspberries. It has subsequently escaped from cultivation and become naturalised and sometimes invasive in parts of Europe and eastern North America
I like your idea of adding the berries to ice cream. Thanks for the identification.
Give a few more months and you got a delicious treat!
These used to grow all over my house when growing up in PA. It's a type of raspberry. When they ripened it was my favorite time of year. They are great to eat off the bush or collect and ad to cereal ice cream or make into jam.
