Squash Vine Borer Moth

Melittia sp.

Description:

Orange and black flying insect. Wings are black and clear. Back set of legs are fairly good size for it. I found it buzzing my garden. Not sure if it was looking for a meal or if it was attracted to the water on the plants.

That is a moth? Makes sense though. It was buzzing my squash in my garden. I didn't know a squash borer was a moth. I had a lot of trouble with them this year in my garden along with squash bugs.

Either M. cucurbitae or calabaza. I would need to see the whole abdomen to be sure.
