Long-tailed or Crab-eating Macaque

Macaca fascicularis

Description:

Adaptable and generalist primate common to the Sunda region of SE Asia. Has learnt to exist closely (although not comfortably) alongside human development and although important in seed dispersal processes, is now more commonly seen mugging local tourists of their lunch in Singapore Nature Parks! A testament to both the species intelligence but also the severity of development induced human-nature conflicts.

Habitat:

Forest edge and urban environments throughout the Malay Peninsular
