Newfoundland dog

Description:

Very large black, long-haired dog with webbed toes for swimming.

Notes:

Rose City Dog Show entry. These dogs were developed in Newfoundland to set fish nets, pull them in, then pull the cart full of fish. They also have a natural desire and ability to rescue swimmers in trouble and so are used for lifesaving. They have a unique breast stroke that is stronger than the standard dog-paddle.
