See the following spotting for something very similar; found in the Phillipines in a cave

OK, looking at what you found I am feeling like then yes...Giant Huntsman. Looks like we might have found a match. Spiders are so fascinating!

The variation of appearance (particularly abdomen shape and colour) in the images already available on the web seems quite considerable.

No probem argybee...I definitely think its a huntsman, just not convinced it is the maxima....

While researching, it seems that Thailand has had over 1,000 newly identified species in the last 10 years. So, hard to tell, it could be a new species too.

Sorry Apple - just noticed you covered this already.
I think you're right though so I'll leave it for the owner.

OK, I cannot find this specific species but I am still fairly convinced it is a huntsman of some kind

OK, I am changing my mind..still haven't found it but thinking Huntsman of which there are a few in Thailand. Most notably the Heteropoda maxima which is the largest huntsman...

Take a look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heteropoda_...

It looks like a whip spider actually...looking now to see if I can help identify

I don't think it's a Nelson cave spider, which is endemic to New Zealand (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spelungula_...) and does not match photos at: http://www.arkive.org/nelson-cave-spider...
