Laura are they found on the east coast... Gulf of Maine area? I'll go check them out on wikipedia

A very lovely photo! I like the green theme with the urchin test and the lichen on the rocks. I'd be willing to bet this is Strongylocentrotus droebachiensis, the green sea urchin :)
