Long-spined sea urchin

Description:

Spotted on one of the beaches of Nusa Lembongan, Bali, Indonesia during low tide. What looks like an eye is actually this sea urchin’s anal sac. The low tide reveals dozens of sea urchins such as this one on any given stretch of beach.

Habitat:

This species usually lives at 1-10 meters in depth on coral reefs.
