Scott, I think you are right - M. moschata x alcea, yeah - most likely a garden variety
Could also be a cultivar of Malva alcea, perhaps var. fastigiata, or even a cross between M. moschata and M. alcea. It has that "garden variety" as opposed to "wild version" look. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malva_alcea...
looks somehow like Malva moschata/ Musk-mallow - I´m not sure though
