Susan, these 2 plants are actually quite different, but I can see how they do look the same and the do sometimes share the common name Carrion plant. However, stapelia is a cactus/succulent and Rafflesia is a parasite. Stapelia's can get quite large but nothing like Rafflesia, which holds the title of world's largest bloom at over 3' in diameter. Plus, since Rafflesia is a parasite, it is extremely difficult to cultivate. There have only been a few successful attempts to get it to bloom outside of its natural habitat, as far as I know.
