Garden Lizard

Calotes versicolor

Description:

quite common. males have large head with reddish throat part. Which becomes redder during territorial display. Display also includes motion of head up and down. a large black stripe near the shoulder is prominent. females are smaller and duller in coloration. normally with patchy black and whites.

Habitat:

scrub lands near to agricultural fields. frequents on small shrubs, electric poles and walls basking in the sun.

you should see them hunting for grasshoppers. They are stealthy stalkers. One moment you see them basking in the sun, and the next they pounces on some unwary hoppers.
