Saccharomyces cerevisiae
My own sourdough bread yeast made in my kitchen with flour and well water! Apparently the wild yeasts in the air colonized the mixture and this is what I use to bake bread every week!
My kitchen countertop.
It smells very sour and when it's fed, the smell is sweeter and very pleasant. It bubbles and froths up when it's fed with the water and flour every night..

wow Nichilas !!!
And as for yeast I am in the best place for beer making. I find the variety of beers in Belgium a wonderful thing :-)
I for sure like many dairy products so I will try find it :-) A long time ago I used to keep kefir grains to make my own kefir. I wonder if anybody will post the kefir here some time :-)
Marta, I love our heritage! As a Greek, I know full well the good yogurt cultures. Try to find some "FAGE" it has Two cultures in it. "Thermofilus" and " Bulgaricus"
Amazing taste. My wife swears by it as breakfast with honey and walnuts. She calls it the breakfast of champions!
Nick
BTW I forgot to say, where you for sure will find Lactobacillus is in the yoghurt. I like both organisms, yeasts and Lactobacilli, because thanks to them we have such nice food products :-)
Thx both!
I will edit as soon as I get back home
Thanks Nicholas, for making me hungry and making a beautiful loaf of bread.
And thanks Marta for you edification and interesting cellular shots.
Lactobacillus is actually a bacteria, not yeast. If you have baker´s yeast this is probably Saccharomyces cerevisiae. I work with yeast for many years now in molecular cell biology. If you would like to take a pick on how the cells look like go to my spotting below :-)
