Tiger Salamander

Description:

Found in my barn when I moved a watering tub just before a major winter storm. Very lethargic. No chance he would be able to find suitable shelter so I put him in an aquarium. Eventually began feeding him worms and bugs. By the time it was warm weather, he was accustomed to hand-feeding. I ended up having him for almost 10 years before he died.

Habitat:

Dark, moist places, see them frequently in my barn in wet warm weather.

A. tigrinum is not found in the TX panhandle. The only salamander we have here is A. mavortium.
