Yes some used shortcut to Greek names.

It would seem that Nymphoides indica and Nymphoides indicum are both accepted for this plant according to this research site:
http://www.tropicos.org/name/20800134
Even though plants can take their name from any language including Greek, the scientific name is expressed in Latin. An ending in "a" indicates a feminine word, one in "um" a neuter word. More at:

Yes I want to tell some websites wrongly spelled specie names gave shortcut in easy names. Take care of accurate specie name that are able to find more information. You have to notice publishers with correct names. Thanks for sharing information. Problem of critical and long Greek Biological names are not easy to remember.

Christiane, Do you think the hairs protect the plant by filtering sun or holding water? Sometimes I wonder if you are living in a different World. Austrailia has many wondrous things to show us.
