Passion Flower

Passiflora

Description:

These flowers were about 2-3 inches in diameter. The plants were growing about 4 feet tall and were about 40 yards wide, covering the bank.

Habitat:

Purple passion flower plants growing in large mass on the other side of a drainage ditch behind the TacoBell near the Bates House of Turkey in Greenville, GA. Trumpet vines were intertwined.

Notes:

I was driving south on I65 and the dogs needed a rest stop. There was a small patch of grass where I was walking them and I noticed these purple dots in the bushes. I put the dogs up and grabbed the camera. I could not get really close, because they were on the other side of a small drainage ditch and the drizzle was about to dump rain, when I spotted them.

Yup...I got lucky on that one. There were more in bloom and they were darker/brighter purples, the second time I topped by that same spot.
