American Goldfinch

Carduelis tristis

Description:

Small yellow bird. Seemed to be enthralled with it's own reflection. Came back many times to my van mirrors even after day and when I would just get home and be in the van.

Allthough I think this is just a female of the species here..

Its definately a goldfinch.. I dont have a photo of it, but we had a similar type of plumage on one of the birds last season, where purple finch type of colors (shades of brown, cinnammon and red) was seen on a goldfinch.. peculiar to say the least.. Maybe the inter-bread somehow..

From the szize and the shape of the pecker I would say it's a sort of canary.

The Yellow-fronted Canary has to much dark at the back...
