Woodsy
My front yard. Seen it 2 years in a row now and more are sprouting in my yard. Being an herbalist I really want to know what this is. I can't seem to find it online lol
Thanks for the information Scott, one of the things I like about participating in Project Noah is the global perspective it gives me.
I think having an introduced orchid go wild in temperate areas is really rare, but in the tropics, and especially on islands like Hawaii, some introduced orchids are a real problem. This is a really good article about what makes an orchid "weedy": http://culturesheet.org/articles:invasiv...
Interesting, I would have never thought an orchid species could be considered invasive.
Epipactis is introduced in the U.S. and is now widespread. I've even found it growing along sidewalks in Boston. Most orchid seeds have very specialized requirements for germination and growth, which makes Epipactis' willingness to grow almost anywhere somewhat unusual.
