Cucurbita foetidissima
Has very long running stems, pretty yellow blossoms. Produces a small baseball sized gourd that is green stripped when unripe and bright yellow when ripe. They have a generally awful smell, giving them the nickname the stink gourd.
Often found in open pastures in central Texas. They are drought resistant and thrive in poor soils.

The seeds are edible, but the fruit isn't. Here's a great site that speaks to different uses the plant has had: http://www.texasbeyondhistory.net/ethnob...
I like the colors in your picture. By any chance do Buffalo eat them?
I assume because of their smell they are ornamental!
