Litchi Tomato

Solanum sisymbriifolium

Notes:

Cultivated - comes back from seed every year here. In the same family as tomatoes, but not that closely related. They are edible and the taste is kind of a mix of tomato and sour cherry. You grow it just as you would a tomato plant. The entire plant is covered with sharp, stout spines, including the husk that holds the fruit - making it a tricky endeavor to harvest them. I've drawn blood doing it :-)
