forest dragon

Hypsilurus sp.

Description:

Maybe H. dilophus but H. binotatus and H. magnus may be sympatric where the animal was captured, according to third link's (right) range maps.

Habitat:

Lowland rainforest.

Notes:

Captured in lowland rainforest 20-30 km west of Sarmi town and brought into village (unsolicited). It was very flaccid (i.e. stressed) so I immediately released it in nearby similar habitat (1st photo). Coordinates are very approximate.
