Firefly

Description:

Black elytra, pronotum covers most of head, is red at the edges with a raised area of black in the middle.

Habitat:

Riparian edge

Notes:

It looks like this firefly either got roughed up by a predator, or had some trouble molting to its adult form, resulting in the wings being deformed. Found at Barbara A. Beiser Field Station.
