Cichorium intybus
Lovely blue flower visible all over the state on roadsides fields etc. According to http://uswildflowers.com/wfquery.php?Sta... it is an introduced species
I cannot imagine it growing in complete darkness, however, this IS Oregon, so I guess it isn't impossible
This is the plant that becomes "Belgian endive" when cultivated in complete darkness as well.
Cindy, they surprised me with that delicate quality and I took the pics! ON the roadside, they look kind of harsh with vibrant spots of blue.
lovely!!
Wonderful photos. They're so delicate and feminine.
