Description:

13-year cicada. This year was their year (last year was 1998), and at times it was almost deafening! Not sure of species. It is included in Brood XIX, aka the Great Southern Brood.

Habitat:

Spotted in late May on a muscadine (Vitus rotundifolia) vine in Ocmulgee National Monument, Georgia.
