Prunus dulcis

Description:

The fruit of the almond is not a true nut, but a drupe, consisting of an outer hull and a hard shell with the seed ("nut") inside. Shelling almonds refers to removing the shell to reveal the seed.

Habitat:

Town sidewalks.

Notes:

Its almond season in the Central Valley.

Im very familiar with almond butter, it is an "acquired taste" for sure. Walnuts are next i think, olives are in also.

Its almond season here also, but many trees have died this year and the crop is not good, it was cold and wet for the first few months of the year, which is not normal. We use them to make almond butter, as a change from peanut butter.
