Roscoea auriculata
Roscoe's lily is named after William Roscoe, 19th century British lawyer and founder of the Liverpool botanic garden. Native to the Himalayas, Roscoe's lily has stems sheathed by alternate glossy foliage, while its large lobed flowers possess an otherwordly appeal. An exotic-looking genus, the brilliant purple or white flowers resemble orchids, and display white to pale violet markings on each petal. The leaves of this species are eared at the base.
