This little caterpillar looking worm is common in gardens and eats from the leaves of the tomato plant. He later falls from the plant and burrows in the ground and later comes out a moth.M

The diagonal lines and red horn leads me to think this is a tobacco hornworm. Check out this post has some good info in comments. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/711...
