Northern Leopard Frog

Rana pipiens

Description:

Two different frogs in this set but they are both northern leopards. Small to medium sized green frog, with 2 tan "racing" stripes that run from the tip of its nose down its back. Leopard name, obviously comes from the series of black spots.

Habitat:

muddy muck swamps and forests with small ponds or even just standing water.

Notes:

According to Wikipedia, this is the state amphibian of Vermont .. for whatever that is worth. Spotted these at Mississquoi National Wildlife Refuge
