The little tubers they produce are actually pretty tasty. Too bad they can get kind of weedy and invasive.

That's a sedge. There are literally hundreds of species, but I'll go out on a limb and suggest that it's Chufa, or Nutsedge, Cyperus esculentus. http://www.missouriplants.com/GSR/Cyperu...
