Poecile atricapilla
4 3/4-5 3/4" (12-15 cm). Black cap and throat, white cheeks, gray back, dull white underparts. Wing feathers narrowly and indistinctly edged with white.
Chickadees may be found in any habitat that has trees or woody shrubs, from forests and woodlots to residential neighborhoods and parks, and sometimes weedy fields and cattail marshes. They frequently nest in birch or alder trees.
In my back yard. These lttle guys are hard to photograph, they don't sit still long. We have them all winter in Alaska. Like how their song says their name. "chick-a-dee-dee-dee"
