Hygrophorus flavescens
This mushroom has a cap size of 2- 4.5 cm, convex, expanding to broadly convex or nearly flat. Its color is lemon yellow or orange-yellow. It has a slimy texture when fresh. The gills are narrowly attached to the stem or attached by a notch. Frequently it may be seen with short gills. The stem is bright yellow, fading somewhat with a length of 4-10cm and 1-2 cm thick.
The H. flavescens may be found in woods under hardwoods or conifers, under coast redwood on the West Coast and under beech in eastern North America.
