Geonoma schottiana is a brazilian plant, of which there are three varieties: angustifolia, latifolia e palustris. It is found at the states of Espírito Santo, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Pará, Tocantins e Rio Grande do Sul (here it is listed as critically endangered).
