Black Vulture

Coragyps atratus

Description:

Black wings with white tips and grey faces. Love to float in circles on the wind currents. Important to keep carrion cleaned up.

Habitat:

Sleep in tall trees usually in a group or pod(?) and after the sun comes up they sail towards the nearest pond to drink before starting their day. If you see one in flight, keep watching and you are likely to see more.

Notes:

There is often one in the top of this tree on the path I take in the morning.
