Caelifera
- A grasshopper is an insect of the suborder Caelifera in the order Orthoptera. To distinguish it from bush crickets or katydids, it is sometimes referred to as the short-horned grasshopper. Species that change colour and behaviour at high population densities are called locusts.
- Grasshoppers habitats are generally concentrated in areas that have low growing plants, since they like to eat grass, leaves, and cereal crops. But, if there is depletion of these foods they start eating other favorable food for survival.
