Plain-bellied Water Snake

Nerodia erythrogaster

Description:

Approximately 2.5 feet long. Kept moving the middle third of its body up and down. Not very shy.

Habitat:

Muddy pond bank

Notes:

Not very intimidated by my presence. When I found him his back half was on the bank and his front have was undulating left and right. I assume he was trying to catch the fish fry that are in abundance in this pond.
