Eastern Wild Turkey

Meleagris gallopavo

Description:

One of five recognized north and central American sub-species (others: Osceola, Rio Grande, Merriams, Oscillated )

Habitat:

Hardwood forests, swamps, grasslands

Notes:

While driving, spotted 5 gobblers foraging as we rounded a curve. Shot this on the move, through the car window with 40x zoom, at some 85 yards, His beard is barely visible inside right leg...a real "point and shoot quick" photo op.
