Thank you! S Frazier, for some reason I thought the same species had to be combined. Yes they're different from days. I'll separate them :)

Yes, nice video. If these images are from different times and/or locations you should make separate spottings. Each spotting is an observation session. Doesn't matter if it's the same species. Thanks. Keep up the great work!

I love rats! They have so much bad press but they are amazingly intelligent & resourceful little guys.

I finally got a rat on video. They're awfully cute when they're not destroying the citrus!

If only there were the two species side by side :) We're up against a huge chaparral area and the ears are a bit big yet the tails doesn't look longer than the body and the nose is slanted. Are there any other identifiers that could help?

But I'm not sure...ear size? Tail length? I'll leave it up to you :-)

Thanks S Frazier. I saw a similar comparison on one of my links I provided on this spotting. What I missed until reviewing the charts on your link is the nose shape. I'll update this spotting to R norvegicus. Thank you!

I have always been biased in calling urban rats Rattus norvegicus so I thought I'd look for the outward differences between the two. There's a chart on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_Rat I just found that I'll consult next time to see if it is helpful.
