Ptyodactylus guttatus
A white gecko I just saw outside my room! On my window shutter. About 11cm.
Semi-Urban area
yes i would have done it earlier but i couldn't find the edit option ever since i updated, thought they cancelled it! but turned out it was only a bug :)
Thank you. I believe it's the same species since both pictures were taken in Israel and according to the description it's name also has the word "fan" (in Hebrew) in it :)
I too am careful before assigning a species ID so I appreciate your caution. I don't have familiarity with this species. Some other gecko species are quite variable in coloration but that doesn't mean this species is. But I found a light colored one here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/31269282@N0... with similar eyes.
Thank you guys!
I thought it might be a fan-fingered gecko but I couldn't find any white ones...
This is some kind of Gecko, it is intresting how their finger work to be able to climb on windows. "The toes of the gecko have a special adaptation that allows them to adhere to most surfaces without the use of liquids or surface tension. The spatula tipped setae on gecko footpads allow attractive forces called van der Waals interactions to arise between the adhesive setae and the surface. " wikipedia
