A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
You're right, that is confusing. Actually the notes I'm referring to here is just my inventory list (102 total!) of all my indoor plants. I got a cutting of this and the ID from a friend in the greenhouse at my work.
Thanks Dan. The cactus and Succulent Society has a confusing few paragraphs on how this was an opuntia, then wasn't, and now is again. http://www.cssainc.org/index.php?Itemid=...
You must have great notes!
Great news, I found this in my notes, so I won't have to check at work later. It has a few synonyms, and O. articulata is one of them. Sometimes it is O. articulata var. papyracantha.
I look forward to knowing the species. I feel a little bad disagreeing without having more positive information to share.
Whatever it is, I'm glad it's not in my garden! It looks lethal!
I know what you are saying Ava, it doesn't look like an Opuntia. It might possibly have been moved to another genus. Like I said, I will find it at work tomorrow, so we know for sure.
I don't think it's an opuntia since those are mostly pad cacti. Of course I have nothing useful as to what it might be.
I have this plant in my houseplant collection but I can't remember the species. I will check at the greenhouse at my work.
