Yellow Grasshopper

Melanoplus bivittatus

Description:

Two Striped Yellow Grasshopper

Habitat:

Prairie, and grasslands of the Midwestern USA

Notes:

While living in Colorado, I met one of the most wonderful people and someone who has been a huge influence on my life. My new friend was special, a stroke survivor and an all around sweet heart of a man. He has paralysis of the right side due to the stroke. However, this did not stop him from befriending me, and encouraging me to get out of the house after a very major health scare in my own life. He would come over whenever the weather was nice and we would go for long "walks" with our cameras. He in his motorized chair, and me on foot. If it weren't for him, I would have been bed ridden due to depression. It was through him, that I found my photobug again, and started taking the quality of photos that I have been for the last few years. Now that we live in different state, I still keep in touch and try to encourage him to get out and take photos. He has a amazing eye for detail, even though he's a bit shaky and has trouble with right handed shutters, he still finds a way to take breath taking images. This photo was taken on one of our many adventure around Parker Colorado.
