Common five-lined skink

Plestiodon fasciatus

Description:

Their diet consists of insects such as ants, grasshoppers, beetles, and also spiders. Sometimes they even might eat their young. These lizards can grow up to 8 inches long, with the males often exceeding the size of females.

Habitat:

Common five-lined skinks prefer moist habitats near small streams or standing water. Geographic distribution includes much of central and eastern United States as well as parts of Canada.

I spotted this Skink at Chickahominy riverfront park around 6:00pm. Pamela Juarez
