Hammerhead Worm

Bipalium kewense

Description:

This particular hammerhead worm was only an inch and a half long with a black hammerhead type head. Apparently they can grow up to 20 inches and are in varying colors. This one is mostly black but with a long stripe down its back. It moves pretty quickly as far as worms go and the children are fascinated with their find. :)

Habitat:

wet moist areas, found wandering out of the wet garden and on the patio
